MullenLoweHello kind Mullen Lowe employee.
I hear you're looking for a Senior Copywriter.
Someone short. Punchy. Gets right to the heart. //Like a toddler sized bantam-weight boxer.//
Someone who knows that good copy gets in, moves you, and stays with you. //Like a helpful roommate with a truck.//
So how do you find a writer who can get you all this and more? How do you sift through the AI slop and a hydra-headed resume stack that grows the more you cut it down? How do you make the tough choice of selecting someone to help guide your strategic choices?
Simple.
You find one that helps you
[[make the right choice]]As any decent octopus fan knows (and I’m sure I’m in good company here) an octopus has three hearts. You need someone who can speak to all three:
[[Heart 1: Heart of the Matter]]
[[Heart 2: Heart of Gold]]
[[Heart 3: Change of Heart]]
The heart of the matter is this: you need creative creatives. People who can produce on brand, on brief, under budget. Without the core competencies, the rest is just window dressing.
* I led a team of fifteen developers at my last company (https://www.slyngshot.ai/), designing all the strategic documentation and direction. We shipped on time and under budget.
* I designed all our internal and external presentations and decks, using Google Slides, PowerPoint, even Miro at some point. I have a strong background in design, as well as public speaking / presentation skills for internal or external needs.
* I enjoy submitting long form work to writing competitions from time to time and enjoy both reading //and// writing books.
[[I choose Heart of the Matter]]
[[Back->make the right choice]]Favoring a Heart of Gold means you’re looking for someone able to pitch and bring in business. (And be kind while doing so)
I’m going to take a gamble and wager that you’re looking for someone light-hearted. Someone luminary. Someone literate. The best candidate is someone who can not only write, but also read…a room of potential clients.
* At my first agency, I was pitching decks to clients right out of college. The head of the agency and I would hit the road together and deliver our presentations (many of which I also designed) to marketing teams, VPs, C-suites, you name it.
* When we landed the job and needed to share milestone drafts with clients, I was the one who nested our comps in context. If wires got crossed, I could translate between teams and straighten things out.
* I also have extensive public speaking experience, having presented at conferences in all of my past jobs, including teaching university level classes on it.
I can sing for my supper. I may be pitchy, but pitches get riches.
[[I choose Heart of Gold]]

Favoring a Change of Heart means you value someone adaptive - to any medium, any style. Just like your everchanging mascot, innovation and creativity need to be a part of the candidate’s DNA.
* In my last position I was the Head of Innovation (and Product) for our AI based app - an industry sector known for necessitating rapid evolution.
* Before that, I founded, funded, and ran an Innovation Lab at a top 50 university. When funding threatened to run out, I pivoted into starting a STEAM based summer camp to bring in more money and keep it afloat. None of this was in the job description, and none of it meant standing still. It was just something I was passionate about.
* Though I’ve specialized primarily in writing for the entertainment industry, I’ve written ads and campaigns for a wide variety of clients and media.
